Sustainability becomes possible only when we realize that the Planet Earth has 'just enough enough resources to satisfy everybody's needs but not everybody's greeds' . . . Equity in resource distribution . . . is in fact an essential requirement for sustainable development in Third World countries. Implicit in this concept is a belief that improvement and maintenance of ecosystem health and integrity also requires a parallel improvement in the health and life of the rural poor."
