Teresa Gomez was born and raised in Mexico City. Growing up in such a large metropolis she faced the challenges of environmental degradation firsthand.
Her upbringing influenced her career choices, leading her to obtain a B.S. in Geography and M.S. in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation.
For the past 8 years, she has taken part in several environmental projects that involved scientific research, education, and community outreach in different parts of the world. These experiences give her hope for our planet and motivate her to continue to be an advocate for environmental stewardship among the community.
She currently works as the head of Geospatial Services of the BYU Library. She delights in making maps, taking care of her houseplants, and listening to music.
